Background Information:
I was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in The Edinburgh Colorectal Unit in 2002 and have been the Lead Clinician of the Unit since 2004. I qualified from St. Thomas's Hospital in London and trained in General Surgery and Coloproctology in London and the South East. I undertook a 15 month fellowship in Advanced Colorectal Surgery and Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery in Sydney and Brisbane prior to coming to Edinburgh.

My practice encompasses all areas of colorectal surgery. The only General surgical procedures I undertake are hernia surgery and the removal of minor skin lumps.

I have a particular interest in colonoscopy, daycase and minimal access surgery, colorectal cancer screening and treatment as well as the treatment of functional and inflammatory bowel disease.

Personal Profile:
I have three small children and therefore have limited time to indulge my passion for tennis, skiing, rugby, cooking and opera.
